1.0 HISTORY
OF MCDONALDS
McDonald's Corporation is an American fast food company, founded in 1940 as a restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald, in San Bernardino, California, United States. They rechristened their business as a hamburger stand, and later turned
the company into a franchise, with the Golden Arches logo being introduced in 1953 at a location in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1955, Ray Kroc, a businessman, joined the company as a franchise agent and proceeded
to purchase the chain from the McDonald brothers. McDonald's had its
original headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, but moved its global
headquarters to Chicago in June 2018.
McDonald's is the
world's largest restaurant chain by revenue,
serving over 69 million customers daily in over 100 countries across 37,855
outlets as of 2018. Although McDonald's is best known for its
hamburgers, cheeseburgers and french-fries, they feature
chicken products, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes, wraps, and desserts. In response to changing consumer tastes and a
negative backlash because of the unhealthiness of their food, the company has
added to its menu salads, fish, smoothies, and fruit. The McDonald's
Corporation revenues come from the rent, royalties, and fees paid by the
franchisees, as well as sales in company-operated restaurants. According to two
reports published in 2018, McDonald's is the world's second-largest private
employer with 1.7 million employees (behind Walmart with 2.3 million employees.
HISTORY
OF BURGER KING
Burger King (BK) is
an American multinational chain of hamburger fast food restaurants. Headquartered in
the unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County,
Florida, the company was founded in 1953 as Insta-Burger
King, a Jacksonville, Florida–based restaurant chain. After Insta-Burger King
ran into financial difficulties in 1954, its two Miami-based franchisees David Edgerton and James McLamore purchased the company and
renamed it "Burger King".
Over the next half-century, the
company changed hands four times, with its third set of owners, a
partnership of TPG Capital, Bain Capital, and Goldman Sachs
Capital Partners, taking it public in 2002. In late-2010, 3G Capital of Brazil acquired a majority stake in the
company, in a deal valued at US$3.26 billion. The new owners promptly initiated a restructuring of the
company to reverse its fortunes. 3G, along with partner Berkshire Hathaway, eventually merged the
company with the Canadian-based doughnut chain Tim Hortons, under the auspices of
a new Canadian-based parent company named Restaurant Brands International.
The 1970s were the "Golden Age" of the company's advertising, but beginning in the early-1980s Burger King advertising began losing focus. A series of less successful advertising campaigns created by a procession of advertising agencies continued for the next two decades. In 2003, Burger King hired the Miami-based advertising agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky (CP+B), which completely reorganized its advertising with a series of new campaigns centered on a redesigned Burger King character nicknamed "The King", accompanied by a new online presence. While highly successful, some of CP+B's commercials were derided for perceived sexism or cultural insensitivity. Burger King's new owner, 3G Capital, later terminated the relationship with CP+B in 2011 and moved its advertising to McGarryBowen, to begin a new product-oriented campaign with expanded demographic targeting.
Burger King's menu has expanded from a basic offering of burgers, French fries, sodas, and milkshakes to a larger and more diverse set of products. In 1957, the "Whopper" became the first major addition to the menu, and it has become Burger King's signature product since. Conversely, Burger King has introduced many products which failed to catch hold in the marketplace. Some of these failures in the United States have seen success in foreign markets, where Burger King has also tailored its menu for regional tastes. From 2002 to 2010, Burger King aggressively targeted the 18–34 male demographic with larger products that often carried correspondingly large amounts of unhealthy fats and trans-fats. This tactic would eventually damage the company's financial underpinnings, and cast a negative pall on its earnings.

2.0 PREPARATION MAKING OF MCDONALD & BURGER KING'S BURGER.
"Actually, McDonald's cheeseburgers, French-fries, and chicken resemble all nourishments and do decay whenever held under specific conditions," he said. "Basically, the microorganisms that cause decaying are a great deal such as ourselves, in that they need water, supplements, warmth, and time to develop. On the off chance that we take at least one of these components away, at that point organisms can't develop or ruin food."
McDonald's additionally said in an announcement this year that there were no additives in its fries or a few of its burgers. Be that as it may, numerous individuals are still focused on the thought that a McDonald's burger is siphoned brimming with them.j
To perceive how the burgers are made, Business Insider visited a McDonald's manufacturing plant in Günzburg, Germany, where a normal of 5 million burgers, from the Big Mac to the Quarter Pounder, are created each day.
OSI is the American organization originally provided McDonald's burgers. You'll discover hardly any manufacturing plants that are greater, and on the off chance that you do, they'll likely be in the US. At the point when McDonald's was beginning in Europe, OSI set up in the German town of Günzburg. The industrial facility isn't authoritatively part of McDonald's, yet there are significant understandings between the two organizations.
Representatives
who have had a stomach bug aren't permitted to work until they've examined the reason with their PCP, so as
to forestall microscopic organisms and infections coming into contact with the
meat. There are no additives in the meat, so the quality prerequisites that
apply at the processing plant are extremely severe.
PREPARATION OF MAKING BURGER KING
BURGERS.
The primary Burger King opened in 1954 in Miami, Florida. By 2017, there were 50 organization possessed Burger Kings and 16,717 diversified Burger Kings worldwide an account of exceptional development. For some individuals, their preferred Burger King menu thing is a fire cooked burger called the Whopper.
The essential Whopper comprises of only eight basic fixings, be that as it may, as Burger King's acclaimed trademark infers, you can "have it your way" (since changed to "be your way") with various blends and augmentations, for example, American cheddar, bacon, mustard, guacamole or jalapeño peppers. On the off chance that "your way" is vegan, they will even make you a veggie Whopper.
In 2009, Burger King presented the Whopper Bar, depicted by the organization as a more "fun loving" minor departure from the standard Burger King. A Whopper Bar includes a semi-roundabout metal ledge around an open kitchen.
Clients can sit on a barstool and appreciate viewing their food being readied. Whopper Bars give a wide range of Whopper garnishes to your fundamental Whopper Burger – bacon, guacamole, fresh onions, BBQ sauce, and significantly more.
Whopper Bars are found in shopping centers, air terminals, gambling clubs, and other comparative regions. Getting a charge out of a Whopper at a Whopper Bar will help hold down your disappointment when your plane is postponed.
Have you at any point considered what's on a Whopper? The essential Whopper comprises of a ¼ lb. of succulent fire barbecued meat finished off with new tomatoes and lettuce, Whopper sauce (rich mayonnaise), tart ketchup, crunchy pickles, and cut white onions on a delicate sesame seed bun.
3.0 MCDONALD'S POPULARITY IN THE WORLD
McDonald's is the 21st most
popular dining brand and the most famous. McDonald's is described by fans as:
Good value for money, Family-friendly, Everywhere, Familiar and
Family-oriented. McDonald's is the most popular fast food chain among adult
consumers who eat fast food at least once a month, according to a new study
from UBS Evidence Lab. Consumers seem to have an overall favourable impression
of the golden arches, with the brand outperforming competitor restaurants
Wendy's, Burger King, Subway, Taco Bell and KFC by a wide margin. Most
consumers reported
a strong preference for McDonald's based on what they perceive to be its good
value and promotions. When surveyed
about why McDonald's customers don't dine at the chain more often, the
predominant answer was spending constraints.
In a likely bid to resolve
this roadblock, McDonald’s is adding budget-friendly deals to its menu to
attract more customers, including $1, $2 and $3 meals as well as cheaper
breakfast options, according to Business Insider. McDonald's is not pleased
with its results after posting nine straight quarters of same-store increases,
and has now set its sights on making its menus even more attractive to diners
with small budgets. In 2017, low-income earners reported less disposable income
compared with 10 years
earlier, which means less fast-food trips. Tightening wallets these days
aren't just a low-income problem.
This is also catering for
affluent customers by offering a national new delivery service, with McDonald
's having the average bill size increase for online orders relative to in-store
shopping. According to Business Insider, households with six-figure incomes
make more regular use of online delivery than low-income earners, which suggests
McDonald's could be trying to stay ahead of the competition that’s flooding the
food delivery space. But it's not alone in switching up its menu to attract
customers who are counting their coins. In December, Taco Bell introduced a value menu
on top of a vegetarian menu, while other QSRs are betting on plant-based
burgers to attract clientele. Burger King also has Whopper Value meals while
Wendy's expanded its value
menu last year, but these efforts don't seem to be enough to persuade
diners away from McDonald's.
BURGER KING'S POPULARITY
I have had some bad experiences eating at
other Burger Kings that are outside of Kuala Lumpur. I have also had many of my
customers come in and tell me about their bad experiences eating at other
Burger Kings. I would still eat at them because of the fact that people that
work there do make mistakes. It would also depend on the cleanliness of the
store as well. If I had a bad experience at one, I would probably not go back to
that restaurant.
I have had people come up to
me and tell me that the restaurant I work at is the best Burger King in town.
They have told me that they have gone to other ones out of town and the food
they received was
so hard that they couldn't bite into it, and when they took it back they would
not replace their food. We would never do that at my restaurant. I have a
theory of my own that I have picked up over time while working there. If it is
something that you personally would not eat by the looks of it or the feel of
it do not serve it to others so they could eat it.
Customers have told me that
they will only eat at the Burger Kings in Kuala Lumpur because of how clean their
restaurants are compared to other restaurants they have gone to before. Another
thing is the customer service. Other Burger Kings have really rude people which
is a cause for people to not eat there.
It personally doesn't really
bother me to eat at other stores but I would prefer the ones that I am used to
going to eat at.
The Drive-thru, a fast and
convenient service. Or so you think. Our generation is filled with people who
are always on the move. Usually you won’t have time to stop in and eat, so the
drive-thru was invented. It provided the convenience of staying in your car and
getting your food. Although it's not all fun and easy. People often have a
short temper.... really short. I have had to deal with the good and bad people.
There are people that can
understand a simple mistake, and say "oh it's ok your fine".
Then we got the short-tempered
cannons that explode for messing one little thing up. These people often will
continue to yell and scream at you. It's also partly their fault for the mix
up. We get the diesel engine vehicles so that you can't hear their voices, if
you ask them to turn off the vehicle, they get upset.
I was running for drive-thru (picking up the food and bring it down to
the drive-thru) a few months ago and the person on headset had
forgotten to ring up the drinks for his kids’ meal. we were going to charge him
for it. The drinks for kids’ meals are only a dollar so it would have been only
4 dollars total for the drinks. He was upset and starting to swear at my
employees and myself. We were going to just give him the drinks to get him out
of the drive-thru to make our line move faster. However, he still was upset
when we were not going to charge him for the drinks still swearing and yelling
at us. He looked like he was going to jump through the window because he was so
upset. I didn't know what to do so I got the restaurant manager and she took
care of the situation.

4.0 NUTRITION
Fast food is popular nowadays
because it is easier for us to get them because their stores are usually just
around our neighborhood. But for us to stay healthy, we should also learn and
get to know the nutritional value in the fast food that we consumed. Learning about nutrition
will lead us to a healthy lifestyle. I will compare the nutritional facts about
the chicken nuggets from McDonald’s and Burger King
MCDONALD’S:
McDonald’s is one of the most popular fast food places to
eat at. Based on my research that I did about their delicious
10 pieces of chicken nuggets, though it is full of sodium, it still gave us good nutrition
like, protein, iron, and calcium in every bite of it. The total calories that
we will gain from this is around 410 Cals per 10 pieces. Due to the high
content of sodium (750mg per 10 pieces) we are not encouraged to consume it because it might
lead our life to be unhealthy.
BURGER
KING:
Burger King used to be one of the best fast food company
that competed with
McDonald’s in the fast food industry because they serve one of the best grilled
burgers. The nutrition of their nuggets is slightly higher than McDonald’s which
the sodium is around (780 per 10 pieces) and we will gain around 430 Cals if we
consume the chicken nuggets.

5.0 OPINION: MCDONALDS OR BURGER KING?
We are all aware that
McDonalds and Burger King are the biggest rivals in fast food empire. For more
than 60 years, McDonald's has been the trailblazer that set the standard by
which all other franchises operate. But there are clear signs those roles may
be reversing; a revitalized Burger King is forcing McDonald's to adjust to it,
not the other way around. I am writing this based on my experience when we
visited these two restaurants.
I am not a big fan of fast food. It is not really good for my
body and my diet. Let’s talk about the technologies used in these restaurants. I
am surprised with how McDonalds has levelled up their games by upgrading their service. They have a
touch screen TV, where we can order our food and pay there. I am standing in front of the
TV, ordering my food, without having to talk to any of the workers there.
How cool is that! Burger King, on the other hand, still using the old ways.
Where we need to go to the counter to order our foods. Second, the customer
service. Both of these restaurants have the best customer service. Their
employees are friendly and they always smile. Third, the foods. For McDonalds, I’ve tasted ‘Double Spicy
Chicken Mcdeluxe’, ‘McChicken’ and the fried chicken. There is also a
new promotion at McDonalds, which is ‘Spicy Chicken Korean Burger’ and ‘Spicy
Beef Korean Burger’. I ate
all of these the other day and it was so good. And for Burger King, I ordered ‘Spicy Tendercrisp
Burger’ and ‘Whooper’. Fourth, the location and operating hours. McDonalds
opens 24 hours while Burger king operates during the office hours. We can find
McDonalds literally anywhere in Malaysia. We can find McDonalds at the petrol
station, in the mall, by the road and etc. Burger King, on the other hand, can
only be found in the mall and some at the petrol station.
In conclusion, I think I have
to go with Burger King for this one. Because McDonalds is overrated in Malaysia
while Burger King is not. I don’t really like McDonald’s burgers and French
fries because sometimes they are a bit soggy and the taste are different than
before. The Burger King’s burger is juicy and it is freshly made.
